Today I was working on some important document. The file was saved to my local memory at the end of the job, I tried to save the document and the Word application got stuck saying "the word is not responding" and the word closed automatically. Then I reopen that file, but I can't see my document only white screen, but in the word count I can see that words I typed are there, but in the page it just whit screen. I changed the layout to web layout, then I could see my text and everything, but it was jammed. And also the page border option is grayed out. Any help please? I am using the word 365.

    Dear YAPA,

    Welcome to the forum here.

From your description, it seems that you only save the file locally. If yes, I'd like you to first provide a full screenshot of the Account page showing the version number of the Office applications you are using for our reference. You can access the page via clicking on File>Account.

Note: Remove any private information before uploading the screenshots.

Meanwhile, I'd like you to try saving the file in the OneDrive for Business site or SharePoint Online, open the file in Word Online and see if the text can be showed correctly.

If yes, I suggest you copy the text from Word Online to a newly created file in the Word application and use the newly created file to move forward as a quick fix in your environment.

Thanks for your effort and time.

    Cliff

    Dear YAPA,

    Thanks for your updates.

For the data saving place, I kindly suggest you save the file in online place such as the OneDrive for Business site or SharePoint Online as it may benefit the data backup to avoid the data loss.

From the Account screenshot, it seems that the version number of the Office applications you are using is a little old. If it is convenient, I'd like you to provide the original affected file in the private message for us to do a test in our environment as well.

I may use the file to do a test to see the result at our side and share some updates here.

Thanks for your effort and time.

    Cliff

The default save location is OneDrive

Restart the PC, once fully loaded, repair Office,> Apps & Features>Select Office your version>Modify /Repair, once the repair completes Start Word, is the doc shown on the recent list? - Or at the end of the list (last page) is there any unsaved?
