Adding MP4 files to Powerpoint slides

I'm working on a project where the client wants a separate sound clip (MP4) for each individual slide.

I've done decks where I've used one audio file, but each time I go to add a separate clip it reverts to the last one and I'm struggling!

Any ideas on how I can do this without too much hassle?

Thanks

Kaie

    Hello Hillary

My apologies for the delay in getting back to you but fatigue finally got the better of me! My thanks again for your reply and suggestion. I'll play around with the slide timings and see how it goes.

    Thank you again,

You're welcome, KaieCie. I'm glad you resolved this situation yourself.

The easiest way to do this is to cut the audio on the powerpoint itself. You could even try to set a time of 2 minutes on slide X, but I don't know if the music would continue or start again on the next slide.

Cutting an audio on the powerpoint is simple. You can see detailed information at the link below, specifically in the topic <Trim a music clip or sound clip>.

    I hope this helps you

    Hi Hilary

Thank you so much for getting back to me, I'm quite stubborn so I played around until I worked it out!

I do have one more question though. I have a slide show of 30 slides. There is an audio file to be shared between 2 slides. It's approx 3 minutes long with the first 2 minutes for the first slide and the last minute for the second.

Is there a way to set a timer on that 1st slide so that when the 2 minutes are up, it will continue playing but move on to the 2nd slide, or would the audio file have to be split?

Thank you again for your help,

    Kaie

    Hi, KaieCie.

I understand that you are trying to insert an MP4 file into your presentation slides.

    I'll hwlp you.

1.Which way are you going to add them to the slide?

    1. What happens after you insert the video into the slide?
    2. Are the files saved on the desktop?

Make sure you are following the steps correctly:

    • Insert a video stored on your PC

→In Normal view, click on the slide on which you want the video to appear.

→On the Insert tab, click the arrow under Video and click Video in My PC.

→In the Insert Video box, click the desired video and then click Insert.

    • Link a video stored on your PC

→In Normal view, click on the slide on which you want the link to the video to appear.

→On the Insert tab, click the arrow under Video and click Video in My PC.

→In the Insert Video box, click the file you want to link to, click the down arrow next to the Insert button, then click Link to File.

NOTE: To help avoid corrupted links, it's a good idea to copy the video into the same folder as your presentation and then link them there.

    Best Regards!

    Hillary.
