Dictate shortcut in Office 365 Word for Mac

Hello,

I was hoping that I could set up a keyboard shortcut on my Mac to start dictation in Word.

I know that I can press fn+fn which brings Apple dictation.

In the Microsoft help it says that the default keyboard shortcut for Dictate is: ⌥ (Option) + F1, however when I press that it brings up my system preferences.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

If you have a fn key it indicates that you are using a laptop or condensed keyboard. Apple has commandeered the F keys on keyboards of that type to perform system operations, such as Brightness, Contrast, Volume, Media control, etc. In that case you need to include the fn key: fn+Option+F1.

The alternative would be to change the Keyboard Preference in System Preferences to have the F keys as Standard Function Keys.
