Error exporting recording in PowerPoint

To Microsoft,

I am trying to export a recording of a PowerPoint Presentation in MP4 format using the following steps:

File > Export > File Format > MP4 > Export

However, while the file has been exported to a folder, its size is zero bytes. When I attempt to play the file in QuickTime by double clicking it, I get the following message: "The file isn’t compatible with QuickTime Player".

Several minutes later, I receive an error message indicating a failure to export the file as an MP4.

I have tried to export another recording in a separate PowerPoint presentation to see if the issue is specific to the file, but I get the same result.

All apps are fully updated and I am currently running Big Sur Version 11.2.3.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ivy,

Many thanks for your assistance.

However, in the end there was no issue. I simply failed to realise that it takes time to generate a MP4, especially for larger files.

Best,

    Hi Bon,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused by this issue.

You mentioned that you cannot save a PowerPoint recording in MP4 format. May I know which version of PowerPoint you are using? Please provide the screenshot of PowerPoint-> About PowerPoint page.

Please try to update your Office if it's not the latest version. Go to Help-> Check for Updates. For your information:
