Thank you (First picture is full screen mode direct from youtube.com, second/bottom is presentation mode in powerpoint)(This happens for video i upload into powerpoint as well, in other words, any video i attach on powerpoint the video immediately turns dark in presentation mode or regular view on editing slides).

    1. Updated office applications -> problem still persist
    2. Opened office in safe mode -> no plugins or any defect that causes issue with powerpoint
    3. See number 1 point -> same answer

    Hi GVANG,

Much thank you for your detailed information, and analyses in your reply, we think the problem may be related to the PowerPoint app. Because the problem happens on any kinds of videos in any ways in PowerPoint app, not in PowerPoint online, so it eliminates the problem of the account and the problem of video’s kinds.

So, based on the results, we would suggest you can follow the below steps to troubleshoot.

    1. Update Office apps to the latest version Version 2103 (Build 13901.20400) Release notes for Current Channel.
    2. Open Office apps in safe mode on a Windows PC to identify whether there is an add-in or extension that may be causing a problem on startup.
    3. Quick Repair and Online Repair, this usually can fix some problems. You can follow the steps of the article: Repair Office from the Control Panel.

Meanwhile, may I know whether the problem happens when you insert YouTube videos or other kinds of videos in the Word app? And please also confirm whether the problem persists when you open the video in Non-Office apps.

    Best regards,

    Cindy

    Hi

    1. Happens to any video I upload from device or embedded video i.e. youtube or vimeo
    2. I have tried changing the brightness/contrast with no success.

Answers to the second part of question set.

    1. see image below
    2. Yes any video
    3. The problem is only on powerpoint app, not when viewing on browser (chrome, brave, firefox)

    Hi GVANG,

Thank you for your post in our forum. And we will try our best to help you if we can do something.

Per your question, we test on our end, but it works well as the same as YouTube. So now, we would suggest you can test the below steps to narrow down the problem.

    1. Please test whether the problem happens on the specific video, you can change other videos to test.
    2. You can right-click the video > Format Video > Brightness/Contrast to change the settings to adjust the lightness.

Meanwhile, may I know the above result and the below information so that you can know your situation more clearly?

    1. The full screenshot of the PowerPoint version. You can click File > Account > Product Information.
    2. Do all inserted videos have the same problem, whatever YouTube video or this device’s video?
    3. May I know the link to the video so that we can test it on our end?
    4. Does the problem happens when you open the presentation in PowerPoint online? You can sign in Office online in InPrivate or Incognito browser to check.

    Best regards,

    Cindy
