Cant Display Online Services attempting to add One Drive account to the Office 365 Connected Services

Just setting up a new PC with office (Windows 10) and Outlook works, One Drive works but when I go to the office account tab It's showing CANT DISPLAY ONLINE SERVICES, try again. I have a second user account that I can set up and One Drive is attached immediately. I've tried quite a few things but no success in getting things connected, again that full error is: Cant Display Online Services attempting to add One Drive account to the Office 365 Connected Services in Outlook, Word, Excel. Message is 'Sorry, we had a server issue and can't display your connected services. Please try again.

Has anyone run across this?

    PROGRESS !!!

Just had a good conversation with an excellent tier-2 support engineer, who spoke with the tier 3 engineers, and...

    1. This IS a known problem with Microsoft 365/Office
    2. From the conversation, Microsoft engineering understand the root cause of the issue
    3. They are actively working on a fix - and quite urgently as, when Windows 11 physically ships, they will have a lot more people facing this issue
    4. However, it is important to understand that, because it is server-side, the fix has to be system-wide (global) so it will take some time

I know that this is not a perfect result, but at least we are seeing active work to address the issue!

LATEST UPDATE 27/08/2021: someone closed the original incident, but I have managed to reopen support incident (with the correct tier 2 support team). The support agent said that they have had other reports, that this is now a known issue and that Microsoft are investigating and now getting the tier 3 support engineers involved... I will do another post if I get further today, but wanted to revise this post to reflect current status after managing to re-engage with support!

In the meantime, it is probably still worth UPVOTING/ADDING TO REPORT I HAVE ADDED IN FEEDBACK HUB https://aka.ms/AAdl1uz. I added a (critical) PROBLEM report in the Feedback Hub and so it would be great if as many people as possible can upvote and add to this report so that it might get some visibility there as well ... everything to make sure Microsoft are aware of the issue and actually look to address it.

I have pointed out that, if it is related to the number of times Office gets installed on new/rebuilt machines, then they may well have a lot more customers with issues over the next holiday season, with the push we will no doubt see for new machines on the back of Windows 11...

I'm having the same issue on a number of PCs and it seems to be recent - I had to disconnect one machines licence from O365 to clean up some licences and then reconnected. It was fine before I did this and as soon as I disconnected/reconnected the account/licence the problem started. This is for the normal OneDrive connection to my Microsoft Account.

It seems like there is an issue with the service somewhere, as those devices currently connected seem to continue to work - those which are being setup with new connections (even if to the same account as one that is working) are failing.

I have tried all the privacy options, checked the credential store and all the other suggestions - including doing a complete uninstall, cleanup using the Office SARA tool and reinstall on one machine - and still coming up with this error!

Is this an issue with the latest build of Office (I'm on version 2017, Current Channel - build 14228.20226) and it does seem that a lot of these issues follow the recent updates to Office.

    Dear RobertStyles,

I'll help you with your question.

You could try with following process:

    1. Open Excel > File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings... > Privacy Options > Privacy Settings... > Connected experiences > there check out if if all three options are ticked, specially "Experiences that download online content"
    2. If above process do not solves the issue, you can try with a repair. In search-box of Windows toolbar type: Control Panel and open it.
    3. Click in Programs > Uninstall a program, find Microsoft Office 365, right-click over it > click on "Change" then "Quick Repair".
    4. If does not work, you can use a "Online Repair".

Take a look at below link for further information:

Also, if you have a security software like an Antivirus (does not apply to Microsoft Defender), Anti-Malware, PCTuneUp, try to disable them.

Besides, if you are working behind a VPN, Proxy or a Firewall, try to disable them too.
