    Hello!

Thank you for reaching out. I'm Sebastian, an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I'll be happy to help you out.

If you are using Windows 10 and Office 365, follow the steps below:

    1. In the document you want to save, select in the top Ribbon FILE
    2. Select Save As option
    3. You will see a new window; in the left pane you can select the USB drive.
    4. Put a name on your file and click Save.

Let me know if I was clear,

    Best regards,

    Sebastian

    Hi Thomas,

Do NOT follow Sebastian Castaneda's advice!

Working directly with a usb memory stick/thumb drive from within Word is one of the best ways known to lose your work!

Save your document to a location on your hand drive. Locate the document in Windows and copy it to the USB thumb drive.

Word does not work with flash drives. Using Word with documents on flash drives is the #1 cause of document corruption. You need to act as if you do not have any flash drives while you are using Word. You can use Windows to copy any document on a flash drive to your hard drive, use Word with it, and when Word is closed, copy it back if you wish.

    This means:

    • Do not open a document on a flash drive from Word or with Word.
    • Do not save a document to a flash drive from within Word.
    • Do not print a Word document while it is on a flash drive.

As Charles and Suzanne have said, open File Explorer and use it to copy the document from your computer to the thumb drive. Make sure that the document is closed first (you can't move an open document).

Your Word document is in the Pictures folder? The instructions given were for Word, but, as Charles said, they should not be followed. Follow Charles's instructions instead.
