Word online auto save error: "Couldn't save automatically. To avoid losing your changes, please copy them before you reload this document."

I'm trying to edit an online Word doc, and I keep getting this error every time I make a change, then I'm unable to edit anything. The thing is, there is another person actively editing the same document, and he isn't having this issue. I tried to open another document to see if I get the same issue, but I don't, just on this one.

I have the same issue. Creating a copy of the file does not fix it.... It's extremely frustrating!

Exact same problem which basically kill the possibility of editing a shared document simultaneously. Very frustrating.

Using OneDrive for Business, SharePoint, and .docx files

    Hi Ivy,

I am having the same problem and saw both this thread and one from Jan 2020. I have downloaded, uploaded again, and edited the document without the save error for a little while. Then, within an hour, the error appeared again. When I download/upload a new copy, this method works for a little while, then stops working. Please advise!

We have the same problem. I am reporting this issue as the IT manager of our Organization. The file is stored on the SharePoint Online document library. Co-authors have full access to the file and its subfolder. Please investigate this issue.
