How to copy text from webpage without the web formatting

I want to copy text from a website into Word, but I do NOT want the formatting of the webpage. I want to format it myself.

Microsoft's totally unhelpful instructions are to: "go to file, then options..." then proceed from there. I cannot FIND File then Options!!

I'm not sure which specific instructions you're referring to but they are "totally unhelpful" because they pertain to the Windows product. If you check the Applies to at the top of the page it probably doesn't include Mac. If the information is incorrect please provide a link to the page I'll send in a request to have it corrected.

As HansV indicated you can use the Keep Text Only option available from the Paste tool on the Home tab or you can use the Paste Options button which appears immediately after you paste.

The command can be added to the QAT & also can be assigned a keyboard shortcut.

Copy the text on the web page.

In Word, click the lower half of the Paste button on the Home tab of the ribbon.

Click the third button "Keep Text Only" or press T.

(The screenshot is from Windows, so there is a File tab that is not present on Mac, but the Paste button hopefully works the same)
