"Failed to create CNAME record" in siteground using Microsoft's CNAME details. Any ideas?

I've successfully set up TXT and MX records using the details given to me in the Office.com Admin centre, but I can't successfully add a CNAME record and I'm wondering if I'm missing something?

Details should be:

Name: autodiscover

Value: autodiscover.outlook.com

TTL: 1 Hour

But siteground just throws up the error: Failed to create CNAME record

Any advice?

Hello Bewilder Box,

Thanks for posting on Microsoft Community.

Based on your description, seem you already set up both MX record and TXT record properly but issue only occurring in Microsoft CNAME record, you might could refer Add DNS records to connect your domain - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Docs Add CNAME records to connect other services (Teams, Exchange Online, AAD, MDM) to do check there is any improvement.

Your precious time and kind understanding will be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Tommy

I had the same issue, solved it by deleting the A record with autodiscover.domain within the DNS settings. Easy fix.

I am also having this same issue. Please help. I have attached photos of what is happening. Please advise. (EDIT: For reference the TTL Time has been tested on all options and still will not allow the CNAME to be created.)

    Hello Brandon Klewicki

I have managed to solve it.

I will tell you the steps I did in case it helps you. Contact Siteground support:

    * Search if you have a CNAE already created

    * They told me to delete the CNAE record that I had already created.

    * And, then it will create the new CNAE with the configuration requested by Microsoft and that's it.

    It worked for me. Thanks
