OneNote -Proofing language based on keyboad layout -absurd!

Dear team,

After many struggles I find out in this forum that the OneNoet proofing language for OneNOte is based (and cannot be changed) on the keyboard layout, which is the most absurd choice ever and the most inconvenient for the huge amount of users that use a language different than the one corresponding to the keyboard layout.

Needless to say that changing the keyboard layout is NOT a solution as then the keys won't correspond with the ones printed in the keyboard.

This has been reported since EVER; is MS doing something about it, or should we just not use OneNote becuase of this?

Thanks and regards,

Borja Cavanilles

Hi Borja Cavanilles,

Thank you for posting in this community and I am sorry for this inconvenience caused to you.

Actually, the OneNote proofing language is based on your current input method by default.

So, if you want to change the proofing language for your current notes, you may try the following workarounds:

  1. Switch an input method.

  1. Go to Review tab>Language>Set Proofing languages to select the proofing language manually for your notes.

I am sorry there is not an option to set the default proofing language for a whole notebook or OneNote pages. So, I understand your feelings and the inconvenience caused to you. In this case, you may try the send feedback via the following portal to let the related programming team know this issue directly. They read customer feedback daily.

Thank you for your time and understanding.
