Hi Community,

I am trying to set up my school to self signup for Office 365 Education but we are getting the following fault:

"Your IT department has turned off signup for Office 365 Education"

Does anyone know how to solve this issue please?

Many thanks in advance.

    Hi Tony,

Really sorry to convey that as the PowerShell commands also failed to turn on the self sign up feature for your school, forum engineers here may have limited support resources to further suggest, and please open a support ticket in Admin Center so that the escalated support team there will be able to further support as engineers there have the support resources like accessing and collecting the logs from the background to check on the process has been failed in which exact step and help to resolve the issue for your organization. See: Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Docs

Sorry that forum engineers here have no permission to collect the logs from user's end. Your understanding is highly appreciated and hope the issue can be further investigated and resolved by the online support team there.

    Best Regards,

    Mia

    Hi Tony,

Thanks for posting back with the details.

Please check this article and install the Microsoft Online module using PowerShell: Connect to Microsoft 365 with PowerShell - Microsoft 365 Enterprise | Microsoft Docs

Do feel free to let me know if there shows any error messages when you run the PowerShell commands provided above. Hope a nice weekend for you!!

    Hi Mia,

Many thanks for your reply! Unfortunately I could not see the picture in your email but yes that is the result we are getting.

I am admin for our school but am unable to find out where I can activate Office 365 Education so tat our pupils can sign up. Looking for solutions on the internet suggests that Microsoft are the only ones who can turn this on for our domain. If you can't do then who can? can you pint me in the right direction?

    Regards

    Tony

    Hi Tony,

Thanks for posting in our community.

May I confirm if the error message you received on your side is similar to the following one?

If so, it is needed to contact the IT department in your school to let them enable the registry for students so that you can sign this up. See: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin?

Really sorry that forum engineers here don't have the permission to change the organizational settings in your school to enable this for your account. Your understanding is highly appreciated and hope a nice day for you!!

    Best Regards,

    Mia
