    Hi Mark,

The error code 0x8004de40 usually indicates that your computer can't be connected to the Microsoft OneDrive Server. So it's more likely a network issue in your PC.

Here are some solutions you may try to troubleshoot this issue:

1.Please check if you have any VPN or Proxy settings running on your device or router. If there is, please disable them.

2.Turn off your anti-virus software or network firewall on your PC.

3.Please try enable your mobile's hot spot, and connect your PC to your mobile's hot spot instead. See if the issue persist.

Also, please allow us to confirm some information with you:

1.Can you open the OneDrive and Teams in the web page?

2.Which account type are you using? Is it a Microsoft Personal Account or Business Work/School Account?

3.Please make sure your OneDrive is updated. Please click on OneDrive icon in the Tray > Settings > About to check your OneDrive version.

    Regards,

    Alex Chen

I think the root cause, as you mentioned, is different. I am doing everything with a personal account, not a business account.

I uninstalled my antivirus and tried again to connect to OneDrive. That did not work so I installed it again so that I would not be without some type of protection. Interestingly, I am getting a message trying to register my antivirus saying that I can't connect to my account and I need to check the internet connection.

So, it seems like I am being blocked not only from OneDrive and Teams, but also from my antivirus with the similar message "please try to reconnect to the internet". I am writing from my PC with the internet connected or else I would not be able to send this message.

Installing Windows 11 changed something on my PC, preventing me from connecting to OneDrive, Teams and now my antivirus.

    Hi Mark,

Please go to Credential Manager in the control panel.

After opening it, click on Windows Credentials > under Generic Credentials, find all the credentials start with msteams_adal and OneDrive Cached Credentials:

Click on it to expand, find the remove button and delete all the credentials related with Teams and OneDrive.

Note: please close Teams and OneDrive before performing the credential deletion.

Restart your PC to check the outcome.

If the issue persist, please try the clean boot method suggested in the following document. https://www.google.com.hk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwiK6p_PjIr0AhV1yosBHXEVAnQQFnoECAIQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fsupport.microsoft.com%2Fen-us%2Ftopic%2Fhow-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows-da2f9573-6eec-00ad-2f8a-a97a1807f3dd&usg=AOvVaw1ZaexhxAnPWbs6hkHi7x5iHow to perform a clean boot in Windows I was wondering if there are any 3rd party services or software installed on your device interrupting OneDrive&Teams from working properly.

    Hi Alex,

I tried these steps before, but went through them again.

I disconnected my personal account to start and then ran the command prompt to reset my one drive account. I am still having the same issue. I also tried the speech recognition feature available when typing in documents (using the Microsoft key + H key). I get a different error code but a similar message that I can't connect to the internet.

Just to give you a little background. One drive was working fine for me prior to upgrading to Windows 11. I lost connectivity right after I upgraded to Windows 11.

1.Please check if you have any VPN or Proxy settings running on your device or router. If there is, please disable them.-- I am not running any VPN from home or office.
2.Turn off your anti-virus software or network firewall on your PC. -- I turned off my antivirus. I can see it says your PC is not protected. I also turned off Windows Defender. I don't have any other firewall installed.
3.Please try enable your mobile's hot spot, and connect your PC to your mobile's hot spot instead. See if the issue persist.- I don't have a US phone number working to test this. However, I tried connecting one drive at home and at work without any success.

.1. Can you open the OneDrive and Teams in the web page? Yes, they both work from a webpage.
2.Which account type are you using? Is it a Microsoft Personal Account or Business Work/School Account? MS Personal Account
3.Please make sure your OneDrive is updated. Please click on OneDrive icon in the Tray > Settings > About to check your OneDriv I deleted onedrive and tried to reinstall it. Version 21.205.1003.0003. I am using the October release. It is still not connecting after making these changes. I get the same error message.
