Just installed Microsoft 365 on an M1 Pro. But I am not able to use the OneNote app on the M1 Pro to access my notebooks on my OneDrive account. I am able to get to my notebooks with OneNote WebApp. When will the OneNote.app be fixed? When trying to add notebooks to my OneNote app, it just gives me a big blank screen eventhough it seems to be connected to my OneDrive account.

    Hi Ronald,

    Thank you for your updates.

As per your description, I understand that you are unable to open the file location when you try to log into your OneNote for the web.

    Here are my following suggestions:

    • Change a browser
    • Log out of your account, restart your Mac, log back in your OneNote for the web and check the results.
    • Clear OneNote caches using the steps below:
    1. Close all Office for Mac applications and back up all Office files.
    2. From Finder Go/Go to Folder (Shift+Cmd+G).
    3. Enter "~/Library/Containers" and press Go (Return key).
    4. Find the "Microsoft OneNote".
    5. Select and delete those folders using File/Move to Trash (Cmd+Delete).
    6. Delete this folder: ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office(back up the folder before removing it).
    7. Open Spotlight by selecting the magnifying glass at the top right of your desktop.
    8. Search for and open Keychain.
    9. In the search field, enter adal.
    10. Select all items whose type is MicrosoftOffice15_2_Data:ADAL:<GUID>, and then press Delete.(Please note that the two Office credential caches must be hidden. To unhide the 2 caches, click on "show visible items" in the "Keychain" menu top bar (keychain -> view -> "show visible items") Once the hidden items are visible, search for "Office" and you will see below 2 items listed. )
    11. In the search field, enter office.
    12. Select the items that are named Microsoft Office Identities Cache 2 and Microsoft Office Identities Settings 2, and then press Delete. In some situations, they are Microsoft Office Identities Cache 3 and Microsoft Office Identities Settings 3.
    13. Quit Keychain Access
    14. Navigate to <YourUserName>Library > Group Containers.
    15. Find the folders below and move them to Trash.

    UBF8T346G9.ms

    UBF8T346G9.Office

    UBF8T346G9.OfficeOsfWebHost

Warning: Outlook data will be removed when you move the three folders listed in this step to Trash. You should back up these folders before you delete them.

    1. Restart the Mac.
    2. Open and sign into OneNote for Mac application again to see the result. For other apps, you will also need to open them and sign in.

Have a good day and stay safe as always.

    Regards,
    Christophe

So opening a notebook in the app from www.onenote.com: This dialog box appears.

Not sure why this is a permissions issue, since it is my notebook running on my onedrive. With me logging into to OneNote app with my credentials.

    Hi,

Thank you for your updates and the efforts put into this problem. We also appreciate that you done those tests.

We noticed that you have installed the latest version of OneNote and tried the suggestions we provided above, and now you encountered an error message.

Given this situation, we also noticed that you can access all notebooks in OneNote for web, if so, we’d suggest you go to OneNote for web > log into https://www.onenote.com/ > Open OneNote in the App to open notebooks in OneNote applications to check if it can open successfully.

    onenote.com

At the same time, since you just installed Office, to narrow down this issue is related to local environment, we’d also give you some suggestions below and hope that will help you:

    1. Please check if you have enabled firewall or proxies, if so, you can turn off them to check if the same problem will occur.
    2. we’d also suggest you open your Mac under safe mode to check if it will help, this will narrow down if this issue is related to third-party programs. For your reference, see: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support

In the meantime, we’d also want to confirm with you if the other Office applications have the same problem? May I know if you can access the files which are saved in OneDrive and open them in the other Office applications?

    Appreciate your patience.

    Hi Ronald,

Welcome in this forum and sorry for this inconvenience you are facing at your end.

I see that when you open your OneNote for Mac, it just opens a blank screen and I do understand how this issue impacted your work and apologize for it.

    The following are my suggestions:

    • If your OneNote for Mac is not updated, I suggest you update it to the Version 16.56 using installer package. For your reference, see: Update history for Office for Mac . After installing this package, restart your Mac to check the result.
    • If the problem persists after updating your OneNote, go to Finder Go/Go to Folder (Shift+Cmd+G) > ~/Library/Containers and press Go .Navigate the folder OneNote for Mac and move it to Trash to check whether the problem persist. Restart your Mac and sign in your OneNote for Mac to check the result.

We appreciate your understanding that sometimes the initial suggestions may not resolve the problem very soon. However, we can work together to narrow the issue down and resolve this situation. So, please kindly provide more information below to let us work further:

    1. OneNote application version. Click on OneNote icon on the left upper corner of your Mac> About OneNote, and take the screenshot for our reference. Remember to hide your personal information.
    2. You macOS version. (Click on Apple icon> About Mac).

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Christophe
