Microsoft 365-two users on one computer

Hi,

I have Microsoft 365 registered on my laptop. My wife has a login on the same laptop, but when she tries to use an Office program it says the product is unregistered. Why?

Thanks,

Neil

Licenses are assigned per user. As you have found, that makes things less flexible when more than one person is using the same computer in a household. :-(

    What 365 do you have?

    .

In the past all users on a computer could use a validly installed copy of 365 on the computer, as long as the owner of the subscription signed in periodically.

    .

But this summer MS (dis)"improved" the way Office 365 works on computers. To enable all functions you have to have a 365 subscription and sign in to it. Period. If you completely disconnect the computer from the internet, then anyone can use the non-internet dependent functions. But who wants to use a disconnected computer these days. No email, no google etc.

    .

So to use Office 365 on your computer, you wife will need a 365 subscription.

365 Personal. Thanks, I'll get her to subscribe.

No, you want to change, "upgrade", your subscription from Personal to Family. Then you can give her (and up to 4 other people) a "free" share to use. That gives each of you fully licensed 365. Plus simply switching using 365 Family instead of 2 365 Personal subscriptions you are SAVING approx US$38 per year!

    .

All you have to do us rent and activate a 365 subscription using your current email account. The 1 year of Family time will be added to your current expire date and all of that time will be "family time" (yes, that is a bonus for you ... think about it ... "wink, wink, nudge, nudge, say no more, say no more ..." )

Only one personal subscription...mine. I used to have an earlier version where all users on the PC could use Office.

Guess we'll have to sign her up to a subscription.

    Hi NeilWalter

My name is Daniel. I will be more than happy to assist you.

May I ask, what kind of MS365 plan do you subscribe to in this case?

Do both of you use the same MS365 family plan?
