I am trying to view a PowerPoint that was shared by an instructor at my school but the audio part keeps saying. "codec unavailable" I haven't had this issue with most of his other powerpoints but a few of them I keep running into this. How do I fix it

I don't have an INFO button on any of the tabs.

    Rena,

There is no FILE tab in any of the Office for Mac applications. Why are you telling Brandy to use something that's not there?

    Hi Brandy,

The video or audio codec is software that encodes and decodes the digital video/audio data. To play a video/audio, it requires the end player to have the matching codec so it can decode and play the video/audio successfully.

codec unavailable means the PowerPoint does not have the corresponding codec to decode your media, hence the PowerPoint cannot play media.

You can try steps below to see the result:

    1. Convert the video or audio to a supported format in PowerPoint. You can refer to Video and audio file formats supported in PowerPoint.
    2. Go to PowerPoint File tab > Info > Check for Issue > Check Compatibility see whether we can optimize media files there.

If the issue persists, please tell us the media format having the issue.

    Rena

    Hi Jim,

Thanks for reminding me that. I should have noticed that this case was post on Mac category. That's my mistake. And I appreciate you pointing this out.

    Regards,

    Rena
