You have 2 problems

.

365 Education A1 only gives you the online apps. A1 does include only a couple of desktop apps. It cannot be used to activate desktop versions. Your school would have to give you an A3 or A5 subscription to use desktop apps.

.

Your other problem is that the factory installed 365 "free trial" on your computer is for 365 "consumer", that is 365 Personal or Family. 365 Education is based on 365 "business". You will have to uninstall the free trial, and install 365 Education on your machine.

    Hello,

To activate Office apps, we need to have the license "The latest desktop version of Office" but since you mentioned you are having Office 365 A1 for Student's license, I would like to let you know that Office 365 A1 doesn't have the license to use the Office apps. So, you need to have Office 365 A1 Plus or Office 365 A3, or Office 365 A5 to use Office apps.

In this situation, you can contact the IT admin of your university/school and request to change the license to your account to use Office apps. In the meantime, you can Office for the web to work with Office files.

Appreciate your understanding and stay safe!!

    Best Regards,

    Chitrahaas
