Again a multi-part question

But what i also just seen is that office 2010 did not need a Microsoft account to be used. So i might not of linked it to my old email.
<<
Office 2010 did not get associated with a Microsoft Account unlike all current versions of Office
>>
So even though i purchased a microsoft product my email can still be deleted due to inactivity?

The complete Microsoft Account Activity policy is outlined in the following complete with the exceptions to the 2 yr inactivity rule (of which purchases is one exception)

One important note to keep in mind, regardless of the above, the only way to log into an account that has not been accessed within the last 1 year period is to know the correct password for the account. There are no recovery options in this instance. After one year of inactivity, everything in the Account gets purges which includes anything in an Outlook.com account and OneDrive.
That said, if you are using a current version of Office whether subscription (Microsoft 365) or one-time perpetual license (Office 20##), it must connect (log in) to the Microsoft Account once every 30 days to remain activated and there is no work-around for that requirement.
