How do I insert a horizontal line in OneNote?
This would be a similar function to inserting a horizontal line in an Outlook email.
Horizontal lines are very useful to separating categories and types of notes on a page.

The question is -- why does OneNote lack this functionality?
Visual separation of notes is an important feature.
I've looked in the Microsoft Community and I don't see an option to make a suggestion. Is it possible to make a suggestion in the Microsoft Community?
Use of hyphens is a workaround, although it would work.
Simply drawing a line is not a good solution, because the line is independent of the text, and if text is added or deleted, the line will not move with the text it is related to.

Regarding to, "The question is -- why does OneNote lack this functionality?" as you know that each Office 365 apps have their own feature. and regarding to your concern, to improve the OneNote view and this type of change has come up, you brought a brilliant point. We do understand your feeling that it would be very convenient if there an option in OneNote app as well to insert a horizontal line as like we insert in an Outlook email under insert tab. As we listen to all feedback and consider them for additional feature/future versions of our products, and we request you send/provide feedback via our feedback portal of Microsoft OneNote. Your feedback helps us know which features are most important to you.
We can expect this feature to be used in the future in Microsoft OneNote.
Meanwhile, as a temporary to continuous your work you may consider workaround.

As per your description, please don’t worry we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation.
The easiest way to insert a horizontal line is keyboard shortcuts of Hyphenskey, for example press the hyphens key (-) will get a plain horizontal line in the OneNote.
Or just select the line shape from the Draw tab and use my mouse to quickly draw a line. It's not bad - though not quite as easy as just inserting a horizontal line.
