Is there a way to permanently remove the white space between pages in Microsoft Word? I always prefer it when the pages directly connect to one another. I know that you can click between the pages to remove the white space, but that only lasts until I close the document. When I open the document again, the white space is back. I tried going to Word Option, Display, and then unclicking "show white space", but again, that only works for as long as I leave the document open. If I close it, then next time I open it, the white space is back. It would be more convenient to me if I could get rid of it permanently. Is there any way to do that?

Make sure that you only have one document window open when you clear the option to show white space at File > Options > Display. Confirm the setting with OK. Restart Word. The selected option should now be the new default for all documents.
Absent macros, there is no permanent way but Ron and Stefan have given you a good start.
So long as it is not showing in the last document open when you close Word it should stay off.

If you really need a macro, write back and I or someone else will provide one. I do not recommend using a macro solution, though.
I believe the white space setting is stored with each document, so existing documents would not respond to a change in the default setting. Thanks for your replies, but it's still not working very well. I tried unclicking "show white space" with only one document open, and while it did stay unclicked the second time I opened it, the third time the white space had automatically returned. Now the white space usually stays gone for the first two or three times that I re-open the file, but by the fourth time or earlier, it always returns to white space. I was hoping to find a way to make the white space disappear permanently.
It's also annoying that I have to do this with each Word document individually. Even when I do get the white space to disappear in one document, it only applies to that one document. All the others need to be set individually, and like I said, even then it only works the first 2-3 times before the white space returns.
