Sharepoint File Viewer

Hi,

Within Sharepoint you have the option for a web part to use the 'file viewer' application. Once you have inserted a file you will see a toolbar below for some options (for example page number or zoom). There always was an option for 'open in new window'. Since a couple of days this has been removed from the application. Is this just temporary or does this option return? We use this a lot in our organisation and we have a lot of problems right now with all of our documents.

In the instructions on the website havent been changed by Microsoft so maybe we have to put something on to see it again but we cannot find anything. It is just gone.

As you can see the button for opening in a new window has been removed from the toolbar.

    Hi all,

    Sorry for the inconvenience that happened to you.

    Since I still can’t reproduce the same issue in my test tenant, the issue may affect some tenants. Based on the situation, if the issue still exists on your side, I would like to suggest you contact your admin/IT department to create a support ticket via Microsoft 365 Admin Center> Support> New service request. That support team there will have the correct channel to help you investigate more and find what exactly reason has caused this issue.

    Also, if there is any update on this issue, we will post it in this thread.

    Will be keeping an eye out on that thread as well - hopefully someone at Microsoft can provide a solution ASAP.

    Hi George,

    My colleagues and I are seeing the same issue. I have tried re-adding the web part (in all different size columns) and still can't see the 'Open in New Window' button.

    Thanks for posting in the community.

    According to your description, I have tested on my side, and I can’t reproduce the same situation. The button “Open in new Window” still displays on my side. To troubleshoot the situation, I would like to collect more information.

    1. Please try to remove the existing File Viewer web part, re-add the web part, select the pdf file and check again.
    2. Please try to use another browser or use the private window of the browser to access the site, then check again.
    3. Do your colleagues or the site owner have the same situation?
    4. Does the situation also exist on other sites?
