Why Am I Not Seeing the Plagiarism Checker in Office 365?? (Word for Mac)

Hello

I subscribed to Office 365 yearly plan today mainly because I've read that this version has a plagiarism checker by the name of "Similarity". I clicked on the Editor button where Similarity is suppose to be under, but all I see is a spelling and grammar checker. I mean, I like the fact that it has an advanced spelling and grammar checker than that of Office Home and Student 2019, but I was really looking forward to a built-in plagiarism checker as well because having that feature would allow me to have everything in one program to help me effectively write my essays. It would also keep me from purchasing a separate plagiarism checking software.

I REALLY hope I did not make a mistake by upgrading to 365. Is there something I have to configure in Word to see the Similarity feature? Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi Peridot825,

Thank you for posting your query in our community.

Based on your description, you can't find Similarity checker in Editor with Microsoft Office 365 subscription.

From this official article: Editor’s Similarity checker in Microsoft Word – helping writers with originality and attribution - Microsoft Tech Community, we can know that this feature is now available in Microsoft Word for Microsoft 365 EDU A3 and A5. May I know that whether you are using Microsoft 365 EDU A3 or A5?

If yes, could you please provide a screenshot of your Office Product Information(open Word >File>Account>capture a screenshot of the Product Information column) for us? So that we could test on our side.

    Appreciate your cooperation in advance.

    Best regards,

    Jazlyn

I still did not manage to obtain the license of Edword due to slow communication.

On the other hand, I feel trapped. Since I believed that if you buy a license of Ofice 365, A3, you automatically obtain the possibility to check plagiarism via the Editor tool.

Now it appears that I need another license. Right?

    Hi Manuela,

Microsoft does not make the Edword product. The page that describes the product says:

The use of Edword Similarity requires a license. If you are interested please go to https://www.easycorrect.com/contact-2/.

Use that link to get support for the Edword Similarity product.

On the Insert tab of the Ribbon click the Get Add-ins button.

In the resulting Office Add-ins dialog, enter the search term Similarity and then click the Add button.
