"Link to Previous" isn't working

I am trying to change my header in my new section, but the header for the previous section keeps changing along with it, despite the fact that the "link to previous" is toggled off. How do I solve this issue? Ps. I'm using Word 2016.

    Hello,

Link to Previous is an option that applies to each of the three headers and three footers in any section except the first section (which is the "previous" for the second section). That is, there are six settings for this in each section.

You may be working in a different header that still is linked to previous. They will be labelled as "Header," "First-Page Header," "Even-page Header" or "Odd-Page Header" and marked by section.

You need to turn off Link to Previous in the Header you do not want linked to previous.

Here is my Header/Footer Settings Recap.

If you want, give us a link to a problem document.

Why a sample file is important for troubleshooting. How to do it.

Thank you for your reply Stefan.

Fortunately, I was later able to solve the issue using Charles' Header/Footer Settings Recap. I realized I had a page break instead of a section break.

Which type of header fails to unlink?

As Charles suggested, you can share a representative sample document with the forum.

    Hi Charles,

Thank you for responding so quickly. The thing is that, Link to Previous is turned off already. Hence my confusion.
