How to rotate text 180° in Word

I encountered a line that was written upside down and wanted to turn it rightside up. I can't find how to rotate it in Word. I was on live chat with a microsoft tech for an hour and he couldn't figure it out. Rotate is greyed out under Layout option. I have put text into box first.

If anyone knows how to get round this; I would appreciate learning.

Thank you.

I am glad you have had progress. :-)

Sometimes, the "compatibility mode" notification isn't shown on the title bar until after the document has been saved.

The Convert button should always "upgrade" the document to the most recent file format, though.

Which version of Office are you running?

Note that the document you are working on must be in the *.docx format and the document must NOT be in compatibility mode.

Hmm, looking at this again, I see that it is now possible to rotate a text box so that the text is upside down:

I'm not sure why I overlooked that option previously.

Note that you have to save the document in the most recent *.docx format for this to work.

Supposedly it is editable and even the rotate button is black but when it gets to how you can rotate it, it is greyed out.

This is the text. It was on Facebook upside down

As I said, it was upside down. I could read it easily enough, but I wanted to ask the person who posted it if they had put the letters out of alignment on purpose. Microsoft tech told me to insert it in a text box. Then I went to layout and Rotate is in black so you can click on it.

But when I click on Rotate, I get this:

When I click on More Rotation Options, I get this:

And that seems to be the end of the road. I have Windows 11 and Microsoft 365.

Is the text editable or is it simply an image that contains (static) text?
