Developer tab in word missing options (Word for Mac)

I am using a macbook. I have added the developer tab to my ribbon. However, I only have 7 options to chose from. The versions I have seen in videos online have many more. The choices that are there don't work. for example: the textbook will not allow input from user. It shows up as a grey box. Once you click it then it becomes highlighted. once you attempt to add input, the box is replaced with the text you are typing. Checked boxes that are added cannot be toggled and so on. Is there a different version of the developer tab or a different version of word or something else I need so I can use the developer features to create a form?

    Hi

Just to be sure you are seeing what you should be seeing, here's the Developer tab:

When you insert a text box form field, double-click the field to display its dialog.

You must turn protection on for forms in order for the form field to be working.

Here is my page on the Developer Tab with pictures of the tab in different versions. I am guessing you are using the Mac version of Word which has fewer features (some with confusing names). The Mac version inserts legacy formfields but calls the Content Controls, which they are not).

    Hi HCTX,

I go through the post carefully, you may watch videos on Word for Windows, while there are less form controls in Word for Mac, as only some Legacy form controls are available in word for Mac and ActiveX controls are not supported in Word for Mac now. For more information: Create forms that users complete or print in Word (microsoft.com)

    Best Regards,
