White box appears when I try to play embedded online video in Word document (Word for Windows)

Trying to troubleshoot why my online video won't play in word document by clicking on video icon. When I do click the video I get a blank white box... I don't think the link is broken because whenever I right click and "open in browser" the video opens and plays online. Any thoughts?

    It turns out to have been a bug in Word. The latest update to Microsoft 365, Version 2203 (Build 15028.20204) Current Channel includes a fix. Other channels will receive the fix later.

    Same issue here. I have been searching for a solution for several months now. (I did report the issue to Microsoft at the end of last year.)

    I'm writing this reply to follow up on this thread. Based on my test, I can reproduce the same issue in Version 2111. May I know your Office version? Also, I would like to suggest you send feedback to Microsoft via File> Feedback.

    According to your description, the feature Insert an online video in Word doesn’t play the video on your side. What if you insert another online video, like a YouTube video, does the issue happen again? If so, to troubleshoot the issue, please tr

    1. Update your Office to the latest version, check whether the issue exists.
    2. Repair Office applications and choose Online Repair, then check again
    3. Please set Word into Safe Mode, then open the document and play the video again.

    Close Word, press win + R, open the Run box, type winword /safe, and click OK

    Also, I would like to collect some information.

    1. Your Office version

    Click File> Account, please take a screenshot including Subscription Product and About Word.

    1. Please provide a screenshot of the issue.
