How can I permenantly disable "predictive text" accross all Microsoft Word Online documents

I dislike predictive text, and have tried to turn it off of all of my Microsoft products; however in Microsoft Word online, it seems like the only way to turn it off is to toggle a setting in each individual document (go to "editor" -> toggle the "text predictions" switch.

Is there a way to

  1. turn off predictive text for all word documents

or

  1. turn off predictive text across the entire office suite?

Thank you. I've been going crazy trying to turn this stupid "feature" off. My license for Office 365 expired and I went back to the standalone Office 2021 so I wouldn't have to keep paying every year. Hopefully I'll also be protected from stupid updates that add these irritating features.

Been using Word for decades and I've only been getting more frustrated with it the last few years.

The Text predictions “feature” is like an invasive weed. For example, I select text to change the font character spacing from 100% and I have to hit Escape to get rid of the text prediction suggestions of 100th, 10, (and worse) the red 100 emoji -- all this for a selection box! No, it is not helpful, it interrupts the writing and editing processes. Microsoft, do you not have real longtime Word users doing quality testing of your “features” before making them defaults? Ugh.

Hi. I'm afraid I have no idea what you are referring to when you say: "Editor Advanced options." Where is that, how do I find it?

Also, what do you mean by "TYPING SETTINGS? Where is that, how do I find it?

I turned text prediction off in Options, it now shows it's off in the Word status bar, but here I am in the Word forum in Edge and I'm still seeing these extremely annoying text predictions. Why also in Edge now?

Come on Microsoft, what's wrong with you?

But thanks to Linda for your help.

Thanks very much! Your instructions were very helpful. Essential, AAMOF. I completely agree with "It's **** like this..."

At least now I can find the option to turn it off readily. Never realized there was a status bar there!!!
