The option to hide peoples' identities was NOT selected in the Trust Center (it was greyed out, presumably by system administrators, so I couldn't even check it if I wanted to), so this is not the issue. Note that this is a shared document in Teams. We have not had this issue before in shared Teams docs.

Hi SarahHomestead,

I go through the post carefully, the settings “Remove personal information from file properties on save” in Trust Center is grey out until someone use Document Inspector to inspect the document, it is checked by default then and Word continues to remove personal information each time the document is saved and reopened. May I know if there are any collaborators who inspected the document before? If there are, please contact with them and make sure the setting is NOT checked.

Additionally, may I know does the issue happen on all documents you are collaborating on, or only specific document?

Best Regards,

Clark

Usually, the behavior you described is caused by running the Document Inspector and choosing to remove personal information. Running the Document Inspector activates the option to remove personal information at File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Privacy Options. (This applies to Word for Windows, the desktop application.)

However, since you mention that the document is shared, I suppose this could be controlled in Teams or possibly in SharePoint. I'm afraid I don't have any detailed knowledge of how this works.
