Freezing multiple rows at top of Excel 2019

I have been using Excel since the first 2 dimentional version arrived. I have always been able to select several rows and freeze them.

I upgraded to version 2019 recently and attempted to freeze several rows at the top of my new spreadsheet. It does not appear to function the same way as 2010 and earlier versions. What happened is that when I clicked on rows 1 to 4 and froze the rows only row 1 froze. When I unfroze and tried again the top 15 rows froze. If I select row 5 and freeze it rows 1 to 4 disappear as I move down the worksheet, whereas in Excel 2010 all 5 rows would remain frozen.

What is the problem? Many of my spreadsheets contain title rows at the top with the actual data headers starting on rows lower down. I therefore need to freeze from the title rows to the data headers - say from rows 1 to say 5.

    Hi SouthEssex

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

In Excel to freeze rows you just need to select the row beneath those rows you want to freeze and click Freeze Panes on the View Menu, and then click Freeze Panes again on the drop down menu, or if you see Unfreexe Panes, click that first.

So, if you want to freeze rows 1 to 5, select row 6 and freeze panes.

Thanks, working ok now. I must have had a brainstorm as I have been using this feature for decades.
