Installing standalone Visio Professional alongside Office 365

I have Office 365 running on my PC, but I do not have the option to amend the license, I am just a user of one of the multiple licenses.

It shows as version 18.2110.13110.0

Word as an example shows as 2201 build 16

Can I add Visio Professional 2019 as a standalone install (not part of Office subscription), if so any particular version or specifics about installing?

Last time I tried I got error that I had to remove Office 365 first.

    Hi Sargan_499,

When you use the Office Deployment Tool to deploy Office on your computer, you are only customizing the installation (basically you are choosing which version you want to install and which app you want to include/exclude), you are not making any change in your subscription.

To answer your question “What does that mean, this is a standalone PC with an office 365 license ... not aware of what 'a channel is”, in any Office app that you have already installed on your computer, click File>Account, under version info, you’ll find the channel info (refer screenshot below).

So, you need to ensure that Visio Professional should also have the same channel when you customize the installation, screenshot below for reference.

To know more about the update channel, see Changes to update channels for Microsoft 365 Apps - Deploy Office | Microsoft Docs

To work with the service, go to Office Customization Tool and choose the products, languages, and application preferences you want to configure.

    Regards,

    Neha

    Hi Sargan_499,

Visio 2019 and Microsoft 365 can coexist if they use the same channel and if Microsoft 365 is at least running 1808. You can use the Office Deployment Tool to deploy Microsoft 365 Apps and Visio Pro 2019 on your device.

Use the Office Customization Tool to create the configuration files, after creating the configuration files, you can use them with the Office Deployment Tool to deploy a customized version of Office.

I have a couple of questions on your reply ..

    >can coexist if they use the same channel

What does that mean, this is a standalone PC with an office 365 license ... not aware of what 'a channel is'

    >use the Office Deployment Tool to deploy a customized version of Office.

I do not own the Office 365 license, I am only the user of it so I can make no changes to Office 365, or does this only impact my PC ?

    Dear Sargan,

Generally, it should be supported. You must be using at least Version 1808 of Microsoft 365 Apps.

Welcome to post back with your updates if you need further help on this issue.
