How to undo sort after saving

Hello,

I was working on a spreadsheet, and sorted the data first by 'largest to smallest' before saving the document. When I opened it again, I tried to sort it by 'A-Z' to get back to the original order--I didn't undo the 'A-Z' sort, and I believe I saved the document again. Now, the data order is off.

I didn't include a reference/index column before sorting.

I already tried to clear the sort, but the clear button is greyed out.

I can't undo any of these actions

The version of Excel I am working with won't allow me to access File, Manage workbook, View, and Restore Previous Version.

I also can't access File, Info, Version History, and restore a version.

I was working with autosave off, and I can't find the autorecovery folder on my computer using the thread : '/Users/<username>/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Excel/Data/Library/Application Support/Microsoft'

'Browse version history' is also greyed out on the spreadsheet.

Is there anything else I can try to restore the original order?

Sorry there is no way of "undoing" the sort after saving.

    .

Your only option is to find an older copy of the file before it was saved.

    Hi

AutoSave would have solved the problem for you. AutoRecover is available only when you save your files to OneDrive or SharePoint.

AutoRecover does not come into play here. Excel did not quit unexpectedly nor did you force-quit Excel. Those are the only times there is an AutoRecover file to recover.

Time Machine would also solve the problem if you saved your file to your local Mac directory.

Learn how to use Time Machine to restore specific files

If you saved your file somewhere else, the technology that applies to the device, cloud, or network storage location is what you would use to recover a previous version.
