How to change the 100% default print view when opening documents

I am using Microsoft 365 family on a Windows 10 PC. Is there any way to change the default print view in the lower right corner when Word and Excel documents are open? I prefer the print view to the read or web views, but 100% is just too small for me to see. So I have to increase it every single time I open a document. I was hoping there was a way to change this to open at 130%.

Thanks!

    Thanks!

I open a document and set it to 130% as you state.

I now close down WORD completely.

I now re-open WORD with a different document and percentage is still set to 130%.

As far as I can see you don’t need to do anything else apart from the above.

The zoom is saved in the registry and Word will write the zoom ratio when you close the very last document window (and Word exits).

In other words, if a Word session includes multiple open documents and these are at different zoom ratios, it may very well happen that Word restarts with a zoom that you didn't expect.

Closing and re-opening did work - it kept the 130%. I also closed that document and opened a new one, and it was 130%. So, it seems the only times I'll have to change the size is if, on the first Word open of the day, I open either a new document or a document someone else sent me. I guess I can handle that! :) Thanks to everyone for your help.

Excel saves the zoom with each individual file, if that helps.

In Word, you typically get the zoom (and view) from the last Word session. If you want to restore the functionality in older versions to store the zoom (and view) with individual documents, use Jay Freedman's add-in; see Charles's reply.

    Hello,

This forum is a user-to-user support forum. My name is Charles and I am a fellow user with decades of experience using Microsoft Word. I have written extensively on using Word and have authored help articles on the Microsoft site.

MVP Jay Freedman has designed a few utilities that can do this. You can find them on his download page.

The Macro Zone - Jay Freedman, MVP You want one of his SaveView utilities. I use the SaveViewLocMulti one.

This is a link to a trusted Word MVP website or blog. It contains accurate safe information that I think will help you.

Note: Print View / Web View / Draft View are not the same thing as zoom level.

    I hope this information helps.
