Keyboard shortcut of Cmd + Shift + L to add/remove filters on MS Excel not working on Mac.

I am a MAC user and all of a sudden my keyboard shortcut of Cmd + Shift + L to add/remove filters has stopped working on MS Excel. The cursor moves to a different window altogether and opens the Safari web browser when using this shortcut. I really need to sort this issue out, as it persists in my VDI as well. I have restored my keyboard settings to default but still no joy. Request help me in this regard with a step process on restoring the settings and using this shortcut again.

I don't know what type of test Kev Hacker performed, but unless you have customized your keyboard shortcuts Shift+Command+L is not assigned to Add or Remove Filters. It's built-in assignment is to New Cell Style.

There are 2 built-in keyboard shortcuts for Add or Remove Filters:

    • Shift+Control+L and
    • Shift+Command+F

You posted this same question again less than an hour later. Please do not submit the same issue more than once... Doing so does not get faster or better replies. It just causes duplication of effort & makes it more difficult for anyone - including yourself - to monitor the responses.

    Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to us today. I’m Kevin and I’m happy to to help you out with your question.

The Cmd + Shift + L shortcut still works as I have just tested it. If it’s not working on your system, I can only assume that you have a keyboard shortcut app or keyboard setting that’s overriding it with the action you mention. Can you please check this and let me know.

Please also ensure that MacOS and Office are fully up to date.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please reach back out and I will be more than happy to assist you.

    Best Regards, Kevin

On my Mac, the keyboard shortcut Cmd+Shift+L is assigned to a service called "Search with Google". If enabled, this will take precedence and the keypress will do the Mac shortcut rather than the expected action in Excel. I believe this is a default, because I didn't set it up myself.

The Cmd + Shift + L shortcut still works for me on Excel for Mac, I have just tested it.

Please ensure that you don’t have a keyboard shortcut app or keyboard setting that may be overriding the standard Excel shortcut.
