I do not understand how come that the tab spacing in my word doc is so inconsistent, sometimes 2 or 3 mm, other times with go beyond 4 to 5 cm spacing. Can anyone tell me how to fix the problem?

Doug's advice is correct, but the phenomenon you're seeing results from using the default tab stops, which are set at intervals of 0.5". In your screen shot, the tab space after (i) appears shorter because the text begins at a tab stop and takes up some of the half inch between there and the next one. When you set custom tab stops, you will see these settings on the horizontal ruler (and they can be different for different paragraphs and styles); the default tab stops are not displayed. Hi ,

I'm Mukesh and I will be happy to help you out with your question.

Are you copying content form Websites and other sources ? Using different fonts or font sizes in your document can lead to inconsistent spacing between words.

    Change paragraph indents and spacing
-Select one or more paragraphs that you want to adjust.
-Go to Home and then select the Paragraph dialog box launcher Button image.
-Choose the Indents and Spacing tab.
-Choose your settings, and then select OK.

You should set Tab Stops at the required locations and avoid inserting multiple tab spaces.

For more control, you need to define custom tab stops. See Suzanne's reply as well as her article at http://wordfaqs.ssbarnhill.com/SettingTabs.htm.
