How to reduce space between footnote separator line and first footnote?

For some reason, in one document there way too much space between the footnote separator line and the first footnote. This is the space flagged by the red rectangle. How can I reduce that to the minimum possible space?

Thanks

Hi CynMoore, hope you're doing well. I’m Ian, and I’m happy to help you today.

    Please follow the steps below.

    1. Go to the View tab, then choose Draft.
    2. Go to the References tab and click Show Footnotes
    3. In the drop-down list that appears in the Footnotes area, choose Footnote Separator.
    4. Delete any extra spaces, carriage returns after the footnote separator
    5. Repeat step 3 but choose Footnote Continuation Separator, then delete the exta spaces
    6. Go back to View and switch back to Print Layout.

Also, remove any Spacing After that may have been applied to the footnote separator paragraph.

Yep. I did that and I also removed all of the leading in the footnote style itself.

    Thanks very much.
