How does OneDrive function as a back-up like iDrive?

I get OneDrive as part of my Office 365 subscription. I have never used it, but am now considering using it if it will back up my documents and pictires like iDrive does. Are back-up and restore features available in OneDrive like iDrive provides? How would I get OneDrive to back-up my selected files on a daily basis like I do with iDrive? Are there any MS tutorials that show one how to do this?

    Hello LadySkeet

I'm Diane, an M365 Apps & Services MVP and I’m happy to help you today.

OneDrive "backups" the Documents, Desktop, and Pictures by moving those folders into OneDrive and syncing them to server. You might have some versioning for files and can remove deleted files, but it's not a backup like you have with iDrive, where you can go back to last week and retrieve something.
