Office 2016 Professional - Language pack installation problem

Hello,

I recently downloaded a version of Office 2016 Professional, which I activated successfully with a product key. Unfortunately, it's in German and I would like to have it in French. Whenever I try to install the French language pack, I have this problem:

Which is the french for:

"A problem has occurred.

Sorry... The Office Click-to-Run installer has encountered a problem because the following Office programs are installed on your computer with Windows Installer:

Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016

Click-to-Run and Windows Installer editions of Office programs are not supported for this release. Only one of the two types can be installed. Try installing the Windows Installer edition of Office, uninstall your other Office Windows Installer programs, and then try that installation again.

Log in for more help."

The problem is I don't want to uninstall my Office pack and try another method, because I'm afraid my product key will not be available anymore! (it's just for 1 installation I guess). What can I do ?

Hi, I'm Karl and will be happy to help you today.

First, you cannot mix an MSI version of Office with any click-to-run options. Everything has to be the same installer type and there are no work-arounds that would allow both types to exist on the same machine.

That also brings up the question" Where did you purchase this copy of Office Pro Plus since Pro Plus is only available as part of a corporate Volume License agreement. If you obtained this from your company then you would need to contact your company's IT department.

Assuming that this was purchase online, then you have no options. Many online resellers sell volume license versions. The product key may work the first time you install it and will remain active on the machine. However, if you try to re-install it, you may find that the product key does not work anymore once Microsoft becomes aware of it,

A major red-flag that this is not a legitimate version is if the price paid for it was "too good to be true"

    Hello Karl, thanks a lot for your reply! It is indeed an Office Pro Plus version, so I think I have my answer. I will contact the reseller just in case.

    Conclusion : in my situation, it seems impossible to install other language packs.

    Hi Arturito,

    Try repair the Office online and then install the language pack

    Go to windows settings< app and features< Office < change or modify< repair Office online

    After repairing the Office online, you can then install the Office language pack on your device
