How could I create a word template with header (company’s logo) and style (font and colour) and share for the company’s use?

So I created a word template ended with .dotm in office 365, when I attached it to apply on an existing word document, I encountered few problems:

  1. The font colour style that I set changed to another gradient; I clicked “automatically-updated” already
  2. The header and footer aren’t sync

Apart from copying that document and updating there to apply the template… any easier way to do so? I would like to share the template with the colleagues in company, we sync our files in One Drive.

Thanks a lot, have spent a day try to figure out the way…… but seems not a way to follow

As Shauna's article explains, attaching a template to a document changes only the document style definitions. It does not include section/page formatting or any content. In order to get that (including header/footer), you need to create a new document based on the template.

The way in which Word works has not changed. Therefore, while the article may reference an earlier version, the information contained in the article is still relevant.

If you send me a copy of the document to which you want to attach the template and a copy of the template, referencing this thread in the covering email message, I will investigate the issue.

    Hi SC from HK,

Thanks for posting in the community.

According to your description, when you use a template to a new document, it’s not the same as the template you created. For “any easier way to do so?”, if you can fix the two issues, you can use the Word application to open the template directly via File> Open> select the online location and open the template. If you want to troubleshoot the two issues, please provides some screenshots about the two issues for us to better understand. Also, please share the template with us. You can upload it to the online drive and share the file link with us.

If my understanding conflicts with the situation or you have any updates, please feel free and come back to share with us.

    Regards,

    George
