Where is d.docs.live.net, and how do I access it?

On word my documents keep saving to a folder called d.docs.live.net, they should be saving to one drive but they seem to be in a different folder to my OneDrive. There are files in this folder that aren’t in my one drive folder and can’t be found by logging on to one drive on the web either. It’s some sort of hidden folder on my laptop and I can’t find it on file explorer even by searching for it. The only way I can see it is on word, when you click file location and it opens it in word but not in file explorer. I want to copy all the files from that folder and move them it so they are all together OneDrive.

I don’t understand what this folder is, but it’s so annoying that things save to different places! I’ve read on here about removing credentials for d.docs.live.net but if worried if I do that I’ll loose the files that aren’t saved on my One Drive.

Thank you.

    Hi Deanna W ,

I'm Mukesh and I will be happy to help you out with your question.

d.docs.live.net is not any location but it is a service used by OneDrive and your files will always be uploaded to OneDrive .

Have you installed OneDrive App on the computer? OneDrive error “Connecting to d.docs.live.net” while opening Microsoft Office files may be triggered by the data on the cache folder on the Microsoft Office Upload Center. Therefore, as a starting point, you can try to clean the cache folder:

-Click Win key + S, type Microsoft Upload Center, and click on the search results.
-Go to Settings and click on Delete Cached Files.

Also try clearing credential manager and check the result:

    1. Go to Start -> Control Panel.
    2. Go to User Accounts and Family Safety -> Click on User Accounts.
    3. In the left pane, click Manage your credentials.

Now look for the live account ID and password (for OneDrive) in the credential manager and remove it and restart the computer.

Open Word or Excel application and try to sign into the OneDrive and check if you are able to access the documents.
Go to File> Accounts and add OneDrive account.

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions please let me know and I will be glad to help you out.
