    I discovered that I didn't export from pages to word. I exported from pdf to word. Following instructions for that, I found that I can go through the document and pretty easily change text that has problems. So far, I think it is going okay. I am 85 and, as you can imagine, have a bit of trouble with technology. The answers I got from you helped me to figure out my problems. But you never know, you may hear from me again. Thanks so much.

    Kindly check if the liberOffice can also be a workaround on your side. For reference: Issues converting Pages document to Word - Apple Community

    Meanwhile, give it a try to export as PDF from Pages, and then open that PDF in Word, sometimes it may offer a better experience if the file is text-based.

    Explicitly what did you do to export the file from Pages? Hopefully it is something like this:

    Alternately, you have a couple of options.

    .

    Try exporting to PDF, then open the PDF in Word.

    .

    Worst case, export to TXT format.Open TXT file in Word, SAVE AS to DOCX format. Then reapply formatting and copy / paste images from original file into the new one.

    Words disappear. There is a lineup of letters going down the left side of the document which have no connection to the text. Cannot center headings.
