How automate a word document?

I have a template document in word to use in several times with the following changes.

The document has a fixed fields that change always (dates, names, a reference number).

The document too has Text lines in some times and in others not and I must delete this.

My idea is automating the document so: With a macro or other tool I enter the information about of the fixed fields and select the line text or legal terms that will have or not the document and generate the end documents automatically.

Which is the better option?
