Excel for Mac cell rendering issue

Hi - I keep running into rendering issues in Excel for Mac (v 16.61.1) where cells just do not render all (snippet below). Only way to resolve is to close out of excel and reopen. I'd like to say the problem is worse with larger files and not a fresh restart but I had not really come across this in 15 years of excel use on a PC. Frustrating to say the least.

    Dear drdreydel,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

As per your description, please don’t worry, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation.

First, please updates you Excel version (open Excel>click Help > Check for Updates), the latest version is 16.62 and then check the outcomes.

May I know does the problem happened to specific Excel document?  If the issue happens to all Excel files including a new created one, the issue is more related to the Office app itself or your Mac OS environment.

To check if this behavior related with Excel for Mac itself could you please upload your Excel document file in OneDrive location via safari browser and then open Excel document into Excel for Web(online) and verify the result with us.

I will appreciate you can try the below troubleshooting steps 1 by 1 below and tell us the result.

1.Try to reboot Mac in safe mode and determine whether background programs are causing the issue. For detailed information, please check this article.

2.Have you ever installed any add-ins for Excel? If so, please disable them and then check the outcomes.

3.Another suggestion is to remove the Office folders from Containers folder in Library with following steps.

a: Completely quit all Office apps

b: In Finder, press COMMAND +Shift+g.

    c: Enter**~/Library** and click Go

d: Go to Containers folder, find the folder called Microsoft Excel or com.Microsoft.Excel

e: Move this folder to your desktop by cut&paste .

f: Relaunch Excel for Mac application and see the results.

If the problem with all Excel files even new created Excel document on your Mac OS, then I suspect components were corrupted somehow. You can go to the Applications folder In Finder and drag Microsoft Excel.app to the trash. Then Restart your Mac Download this installer Install package and use it to reinstall Microsoft Word (the version 16.62). Then, restart your Mac and test.

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated. I hope that you are keeping safe and well!

    Sincerely,

    Waqas Muhammad
