Excel keeps scrolling right - can't stop it and edit document

Hello

I am trying to edit existing excel files and create new ones (no macros in existing ones) and as soon as I open file, it starts wildly scrolling right.

I can't get to A1 or even anywhere near my document to edit it.

Also, not sure if this is related but noticed today a couple of times that when I was trying to select drop-down menus on a couple of websites (eg to view by recommended or price etc) it wouldn't let me. This happened on at least a couple of sites but worked ok on one.

I tried to turn off scroll lock by right-clicking on status bar at bottom but nothing happened (it didn't even appear bottom left in caps when I turned it on).

Thanks for your help.

The wireless mouse is the cause. You will have to change the batteries, however, don't just change the batteries, unplug the dongle> For some reason, unplugging the dongle to have the computer resee the mouse while changing the batteries will fix the issue.

A million thanks!!! Finally a solution! Thank you!

I have no idea why this happened, but this was the only thing that fixed it.

I am not a computer expert by any means, but my suggestion is to double check to be sure there is not a wireless dongle for your old mouse still plugged into the back of your computer. It’s usually a tiny little thing and easy to miss. Good luck!

So far, I have tried three different mouse-scrolling devices, all wireless, that work with my laptop. I have reset my computer. I tried the battery switch. (Duracell, good until 2031.) I switched USB ports too. I tried turning off the scroll lock from the software keyboard. No joy.

With no offense meant to those who have succeeded, so far it feels to me like the suggestions are in the same vein as snapping your fingers to keep the elephants away. Try it. See there are no elephants for a thousand miles! That is, confusing cause and effect. I am glad the above have helped for some.
It seems to be Excel and Sheets, but even the screen before the PIN screen scrolls.

    Microsoft store scrolls too.

In Sheets, neither the scroll bar nor the scroll arrows will bring the page more than half-way to the beginning of the sheet.

I don't think there was a Win10 update recently that would explain it. Even the settings windows are scrolling and won't stay where I want them.

Clearly, I need help. I would prefer an explanation of what and why this started happening.

    Hi

I also have this problem and did what you suggested but it didnt fix the issue. Mine is exactly like the one above with volume scrolling to max as well. I replaced the wireless mouse with a new wired keyboard and mouse and it still does it . Any suggestions
