On the desktop: in Windows Explorer (File Explorer in some versions of Windows), type the following in the address bar, then press Enter:

    %appdata%\Microsoft\Templates

You should see the Normal.dotm template there.

Copy it to a cloud service such as OneDrive or Google Drive, or to a USB stick.

On the laptop, go to the %appdata%\Microsoft\Templates folder, and paste the template into it.

First, because things seem to happen to the normal template, I advise keeping as many customizations as possible in other templates. Moving (Sharing) Customizations in Microsoft Word

    That said,...

    1. Find your template on your desktop computer.
Where is the Normal Template / How to Find the Normal Template
    2. Make a copy on a flashdrive (from Windows, not from within Word)
    3. Find the location on your laptop (same procedure).
    4. Paste the normal template there, overwriting the one that is already in that location.
