I have no idea how the Heading 2 style was changed to the Georgia (Heading) font. I have never heard of that font. I just checked severtal other documents and they all use the Cambria (Heading) font.
How can I change all of the Heading styles back to Cambria?
Change the font for the heading paragraph to Cambria, then:
• right-click on the paragraph-break;
• right-click on the little arrow at the bottom-right corner of the Styles pane (or press Ctrl-Alt-Shift-S);
• click on the dropdown that appears when you hover over the Heading 2 Style name;
• choose 'update Heading 2 to Match Selection'.
I changed the font size of the Footnote Reference to 15pt. That helps, but it is still not looking like superscript 8.
As I said before,
Number characters in the Georgia font you're using have different heights - some ascend above the line; others descend below it. The numeral 1 is one of the smallest digits in that series, with no ascender or descender.
The 8 has an ascender. Changing the Heading Style to the Cambria font should resolve that particular issue. You should nevertheless delete the point size specification from the 'Footnote Reference' Style.
As for the post by chitraltour, methinks he/she was just parroting my initial thoughts before seeing your document.
As you'll see from the Style dialog box for the Footnote Reference Style in your reply to chitraltour, the point size is set to 11. Delete the 11pt attribute. That way, the superscripted Footnote Reference's point size will match that of the surrounding text.
