New document in word opens in Read Mode layout instead of Print Layout.

When I open word and start a new document, the document views in "Read Mode".

So I need to click on Print Layout everytime. This has been change in the last few days, so something must have been happen in the settings.

I want that every new document should be open in "Print Layout" view. I have been try to select "Print Layout" in the View, and then save, close och re-open word. But it doesn´t work, it still open the document in "Read Mode".

    In Word, click File > Options > General. Clear the check mark next to "Open e-mail attachments and other uneditable files in reading view." Click OK.

    Hello Linda J,

    Thank you for coming to the forum.

    If it keeps resetting back to the read mode, even thought you have chosen print layout and saved it, then there is something up with your normal.dotm file.

    We can try the below: To reset the whole word settings back to normal (like factory reset) by you can rename the normal.dotm file:

    Here are the steps

    1. Go to C:\ drive
    2. double click the folder Users
    3. Locate your username and double-click that folder

    Then press F4 on the keyboard (if the F4 has a different colour from white on the keyboard, then it is Fn + F4)

    You will notice the address bar will change: paste the below after the name in the address bar

    \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates

    And you will see a file named normal.dotm: Rename it to normal_old.dotm

    Then open Word again
