In MS 365 Word, how to convert traditional chinese character to simplified chinese character without going thru the translate tool.

In the previous word version, there is a button to convert traditional chinese to simplified chinese.

But in MS 365 Office Word, only the "translate" button is left. The problem of "translate" button is that, it is not a direct conversion of the character from tradtional chinese to simplified chinese, translatIion will be involved. For example, 銀碼 will become 价格.

How can I get the convert button? Or it is just because I don't have the simplified chinese language pack for MS 365?

    Dear G YEUNG,

Good day! Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. We’re happy to help you

From your description, it seems that you want to use the option to convert traditional Chinese to simplified Chinese, however, you cannot find this option in your Word.

If my understanding is right, as far as we know, the Chinese conversion - Simplified <-> Traditional feature (繁簡轉換) requires you to have the Chinese language pack installed. Please check the Office Language preference of your office suite.

You can go to Word > File > Options > Language > Make sure you have the "Chinese (Tradition, Taiwan)" installed and set as default. If not, you can click the "Add additional editing language" and select "Chinese (Taiwan)". Then click "Add" to install it. After install Chinses pack, you can restart Word to check if you can find this option.

And we have also tested it on our side, after installing Chinese pack, we can see this option, as shown below:

If the suggestion above doesn’t work, to better understand your situation and narrow down this issue, could you provide the information below?

    1. Could you provide the product information and version of Word? You can go to Word > File > Account and provide the screenshot of it.
    2. Could you go to Review tab and provide the screenshot of it?

    Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,
