When trying to open the Microsoft Office 365 on my surface pro the main window opens, but it's blank white screen.

The minimize maximize and close buttons are at the top but that is it. No error messages.

    Hello Don,

Which office app are you using? If the Office dashboard app (big orange icon), can you open the individual office apps from the start menu?

To fix the blank window, find the Office app in Settings > Apps and reset it. It will have the same orange icon in Apps and is fairly small. Click Advanced then Reset.

I found the solution and then if figured out that it is the fix that Diane has posted. I had run the "Repair" on the Office update from the Office support site after trying the "Modify" option listed in Windows Setting> Apps> Apps and Features> Office 365 -en-us. But further down the list is "Office". in the dot stack (three dots on the right in a vertical stack) the first Office only has "Modify" and "Uninstall". Modify wasn't fixing the issue.

The second one has three options and the first is "Advanced Options". I looked that these before but didn't try any. Today, I saw the "Reset". I think this may be what Diane is referencing, although its hard to find since it is the sixth one down and you have to scroll to find it. I selected "Repair" and I got my initial office screen to work again.

I had been using a work around that involved placing shortcuts for all the office apps on my desktop - like we did before Office 365 forced us to open the Office Orange thingy (I am sure they have a name for it but I dont' know it) before you can open the actual app you want to use -- like Outlook.

Anyway, thanks Diane. It's fixed now.

    Hello

Same here... its the short cut Orange Office Icon that quick launches all the Microsoft apps. I've tried uninstalling and repair, nothing is working. I can open them individually though scrolling thru the apps manually- thanks for that tip!

Otherwise, if you hit the office quick launch you get a big white blank GUI box ... frustrating.

The icon works fine on my Dell desktop, so it's something with surface laptops I suspect.

I am having the same problem today. I've done all the resets and reinstalls recommended. I can open an Excel or Word document directly, but when I start Office, I just get the blank screen. (I have office 365 but don't go through a browser to start it.) I also have a Surface Pro.

I have the same issue on my Samsung Odessey laptop. I have run the app repair and restarted twice. I even reinstalled MS 365 from my account page and got the same blank screen.
