Adding Dropbox as a place in office

Hello, I have read the reply to the above question, copied here:

If you want to add Dropbox as "Online location" when you save files in Office for Mac, sorry it's not available to add Dropbox as an online location because we can only add OneDrive and SharePoint as online location in Office. Thank for your understanding.

As a workaround, you may add Dropbox to Favorites in Finder Sidebar on your Mac, then when you click File>Save or File>Open in Office apps, click "On My Mac", Dropbox will appear in Finder and you can save files to the Dropbox folder.

I am new to Mac but have been using ms office on my iPad and the function in question works fine on my iPad Pro.

Can I assume that this functionality will be migrated to Macs?

    Hi Alex,

Microsoft directly supports DropBox in the WEB version of Excel, but not the desktop version:

DropBox supports mobile and Office WEB applications

DropBox integration with Office WEB applications

Microsoft Office 365 Integration - Dropbox

You can install the DropBox application and it might work for you. Whether or not you can drag the DropBox location to the sidebar in Finder windows is between DropBox and Apple and has nothing to do with Microsoft.

Whether you can DropBox as location in the Save locations in Microsoft Office depends on your license type. It can be done with certain license types. I have seen DropBox appear in some people's screen shots. When I add storage locations, I am offered several options, but DropBox is not one of them. Here's what I see when I manage storage locations in the Office Save As dialog:

    Hi Martina,

Telling Mac users to use Windows is a big no-no. It is not relevant to Mac users what is available in Microsoft Windows. Please stop insulting Mac users.

    Thank you.

Well, IMHO nobody in here can answer that.

I searched the Feedback Portal and there is not really a suggestion to add that functionality.

Please make a suggestion here to bring this to the attention of the development team:

    Excel · Feedback Portal

You should also ask about it in the Dropbox Community, maybe there is a similar "Feedback Portal": https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/English/ct-p/English

Arielle, thanks for the response. As advised I am using a Mac, not a windows computer. I can read the currently published advice!

Please read my question and answer it, if you cannot at least have the courtesy to say so.

    Hello AlexMcCartney,

A good day to you and hope you are doing great.

My name is Arielle Martina, I'd be happy to assist you today.

With regards to your above query, Yes. you can assume that the functionality will be on migrated also to your personal MAC device and also yes Adding Dropbox as a Place integrates natively with Office. Dropbox as a Place is available even if Dropbox isn't running or you're offline. However, your files won’t sync until the next time Dropbox is running and you’re online.

You can also visit the link for your guide and reference: https://help.dropbox.com/installs-integrations/third-party/microsoft-office-faq

    Additional Note: Requirements

To add Dropbox as a Place in Office, you must:

    1. Use a Windows computer
    2. Run version 29 of the Dropbox desktop app or later.
    3. Run Microsoft Office

If you have any concerns or clarification please reply in the below comment section. Many thanks!

    Kind regards,

    Arielle Martina
