Retaining Formatting When Copying Text Into a Gmail Message

The Normal style which I use has the following font and paragraph parameters:

The text in the Normal style does not have big spaces between lines and paragraphs. However, when I copy this text and paste it into a “New Message” Gmail window, the text has big spaces between lines and paragraphs. This started to happen after I had made some changes in the Normal style, and I do not understand what exactly has changed in the parameters.

The following attached .docx file contains three sample paragraphs. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/evq68z3ofbunsgymlvtwr/sample.docx?dl=0&rlkey=fe13zay0bqfh3y2mzr5gtqxj1 When you open the file in Microsoft Word and then copy and paste the paragraphs into a Gmail message on your computer, how do they look like? Do you know why big spaces appear when the text is pasted into a Gmail message? I want the text in Gmail to appear the same as in a Word document after it is copied from it.

Just one small point. I copied to text from a Word document and pasted it in a Gmail message and it would not retain font style. I then realised that I had no paragraph mark and as formatting is retained in the paragraph mark, so adding a paragraph mark did the trick.

Hi, my settings are the same as yours. Have you checked line and page breaks to see if this may be the cause of the problem, as per mine below?

Not it would make any difference, but I use HTML

PS: you could try a quick repair>Click on Start>Settings>Apps>In the little search box type>Office>This will bring up your Office from the list>Click on your Office>Modify>Quick repair.

When I copy your test text and paste it into a Gmail message and to keep source formatting I get:

This is a sample. This is a sample. This is a sample. This is a sample. This is a sample. This isa sample. This is a sample. This is a sample. This is a sample. This is a sample. This is asample. This is a sample. This is a sample. This is a sample. This is a sample. This is a sample. This is a sample. This is a sample. This is a sample. This is a sample. This is a sample. This isa sample. This is a sample. This is a sample. This is a sample. This is a sample. This is a sample. PS: But note your sample does not have any 'formatting' when pasted into a Word document. There are no formatting marks! (except there is a paragraph mark at the end of the document and there is the usual dot between each word.
